All solos and improvisations are played by Mamady. This series is designed to demonstrate the solos, and then provide the background instrumentation to play along with the CD at varying tempos. Fadouba Oulare:
"Fadouba Oulare: Live 2006"
This long awaited disc is a must have! Fadouba Oulare was introduced to most of us on Mamady Keita's CD & documentary film, "Mogobalu". He's the cool guy with the glasses. Along with Grand Masters, Mamady Keita and Famoudou Konate, Fadouba is a musical pioneer, and veteran of the early ballet days after Independence. In 1959, Fadouba became the first lead djembefola of Les Ballet Africains... even before Famoudou Konate. In 1961, he was recruited to play in the Military Ballet where he played for 20 years. Recordings of the elusive Fadouba are very rare indeed, and this disc is all about the Fadouba sound, with help from his sons on djembe, his daughters on chorus, and the musicians of Faranah where he now lives with his 3 wives and 34 children!
